McAuley Heywood House

Heywood House by McAuley Community Services for Women is a new refuge accommodation for victims fleeing family violence.

The secure space is a haven for women and children to access immediate assistance while navigating from trauma to safety. It houses 14 self-contained units (seven family suites and seven single-bed units), and communal amenity spaces as well as a garden courtyard, children’s room for playing and learning, and laundry facilities.

Our scope involved the reconfiguration and upgrading of a former aged care facility inclusive of infrastructure upgrades, disability access and landscaping. We refreshed the space with furnishings and new finishes. A calming colour palette was applied to create a sense of warmth and welcome for residing guests; colour was also utilised as a means for way-finding.
